THE RAIN SONG....

Under the cyclopean sky i lay,
Lame and tired on a placid day,
Blaming the Gods for my bedraggled life,
For filling it with incessant strife.

I lay there atop a one tree hill,
On a soft patch of grass, all still,
The life of that tree was metaphorical to mine,
All by itself in rain and shine.

The wind from the west had picked up speed,
Rustling the leaves and blowing the weeds,
Like a melody playing in sotto voce,
Peace came to me,and let my eyelids close.

I missed seeing the cerulean sky transform,
Cirrus clouds marking the advent of a storm,
The divine orchestra of the Creator,
Setting up a symphony in his amphitheatre.

Thunder roared, lightening fell,
I sat up and looked as i've landed in hell,
Then the first raindrop kissed my forehead,
And the derangement of my mind, it all fled.

The clouds above me let out their bountiful shower,
And the earth overwhelmed me with its redolent power,
I sat there transfixed for a moment or so,
Before i realised, i had to go.

With a stupendous pace of a fleeing prey,
Down the slope i ran all the way,
To save my wits from the scathing rain,
The way i dread of being in pain.

Half way down the slope it caught up to me,
Drenched my body, but cooled my heart,
Killed my demons and set me free,
And inspired me to make a fresh start.

So foolish of me to have believed so,
To outrun my dolors in a go,
Standing in that rain i realised a truth,
That its frivilous to lead a life of ruth.

Like an untrammeled spirit, like a jubiliant soul,
The other half i ran slicing the blanket of rain,
With arms outstreched, with a heart on a roll,
The rancour of being alive i had slain.

Your life is a revelry of rollicking moments,
Interlaced in a string of turbulant times,
Like the music you hear when a storm descends,
The thunder's roar, the shower's hiss, finally it all rhymes.

SLUMDOG 'BULLY'IONAIRE

Its miniscule eyes opened for the first time,
Was blinded by the light from the Cerulean sky,
The air it breathes saturated by the stench,
Of a canine carcass rotting by its side.

Born in a dumpyard of a pervert world,
This pariah of destiny began its wretched life,
Paraphernalia of a pair of hopeless souls,
He crawled, then walked through the lanes of his slum.

Darwin's Law was the first thing he learned,
Fight for thy bread, or thou shalt perish,
Love for him was a chimerical emotion,
Written on billboards of hindi 'fillums'.

He still has flashbacks of the first brawl he had,
As a neophyte urchin on Petkar Street,
When some salacious 'veterans' pilfered his pittance,
He fought them down with his newfound resolve.

From that moment on he never lost his mettle,
Bullied his way up the echeleons of the slum,
Unperturbed by the bludgeonings of fate,
He rose like a pheonix above the scum.

On the slovenly streets of his shantytown
Where every soul is endowed with unremitting woes,
He tested his sinew and fought for every piece of bread,
In the shadow of a hoarding; 'India Shining' it read.

The Order of the Underworld were the lessons he learned,
Th lacerations from his fights were the notes he made,
When the world seems resplendent with a myriad opportunities,
His was a world of obdurate uncertainties.

His metamorphasis in itself is a quixotic tale,
From Slumdog to Slumlord he made his way,
Where rags to riches is still a celluloid dream,
His bestial life was scripted not by men, but fate.

Every time you oblige to your child's say,
Just remember that there are kids out there,
Being pushed to the brink of life itself,
By the Aparthied drawn by our vested deeds.

Their souls disowned by the society they could have served,
Their minds poisoned by rage and despire,
Our nameless slumdog's rise to infamy,
Is a testimony of their rendition to our diabolical self.

HEROES

Since the genesis of time, when cities rose,
Barricades of men, as armies pose,
Lead by a league of chivalrous souls,
The mob christened them as Heroes.

They are not born;our idols, but they are made,
The mob worships them ,till they fade,
The youth dreams to be one of those,
Whom the mob christens as Heroes.

In a despotic world where the sane are rare,
Children starve and die,but very few care,
The bombs ,they kill, no religion it knows,
For some they are terrorists, for others, Heroes.

One man saves a hundred lives,
Chaos is beaten, faith survives,
The Sandeeps, the Sullys ,the Bhatras, they all chose,
To risk their lives, and made Heroes.

They rise amongst us in myriad forms,
In sports fields, screens and battlestorms,
Your insatiable expectations add to their woes,
They have to pay a price, to stay Heroes.

The Devil's sentinals are present and clear,
Within and without your wretched lives, filling it with fear,
In absence of heroes, sanity will be gone,
Because when a Hero is born, Hope is reborn.

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION : SECRET TO YOUR WELL BEING

"IMAGINATION IS EVERYTHING.IT IS THE PREVIEW OF LIFE'S COMING ATTRACTIONS"
-ALBERT EINSTEIN

How many times have you woken up after a nightmare, and found it coming true?
Here's a food for thought. Most people who are depressed in life spend more time thinking of what they don't want, than thinking of what they want.

12 billion years ago, just after the big bang, the most predominant force in the universe was the force of attraction. It is what brought the matter together.Stars were formed, then planets, galaxies. And finally the life as we know it. The be all and end all of it is that finally, all of us,all our loved ones, all that you can see around you, are just some forms of stored potential energy, held together by the laws of attraction.

Every religion in the world mentions that we all are the physical manifestations of an infinite source of energy. For our comprehension,we call that energy,God. God-who has always been there, and always will be there, who cannot be created or destroyed, but changes from one form to another. Now isn't that the same scientific definition of energy?Touche'!

What i mean to say is, if we are simply the manifestations of that infinite energy, then it means that we have the power to influence, if not build our future. And we can do so, with nothing but our thoughts! Now prima facie',this idea seems too far fetched. But try to perceive this using real life examples. The rich becoming richer, the poor becoming poorer, peace not happening in war torn areas for long periods. When you constantly think about money and success, and do that with what we call passion, you actually do get what you want. On the contrary,it you constantly think of what you DON'T want, like you don't want to be poor, you don't want to fail in you grades, you don't want war; you still get that, because you are unknowingly thinking about it with the same passion. The universe does not understand what you want or don't want. It just gets you that thing you are concentrating on. Thoughts become things! Its as simple as that.

Remember those line from Paulo Coehlo's bestseller,'The Alchemist'? "Be passionate about something, and the whole universe conspires to get it to you." He knew the secret of the law of attraction. But does that mean that simply thinking about something, will make it happen? If thats what you make of all this, then you are sadly mistaken. You won't get rich by simply thinking of money. You won't get to date Cameroon Diaz by simply looking at her poster! The rule of the game is-You have to think that you already have it. You have to live your thoughts in the present, in order to live it in reality,in your future. Your present is nothing but a physical manifestation of you past thoughts. And your future will be wholly shaped only and only by you present thoughts!

In the 90s, tests were carried out on Olympic athletes. They were made to run their whole track,in their mind. They closed their eyes and ran the race in their mind.Biosensors strapped to their bodies detected that the brain stimulated the exact same muscles of their bodies, that would fire when they were actually running the race! Your thoughts translate into your actions, and your actions make your life. So even if you are constantly thinking about something, or are passionate about getting a particular thing, the universe is definitely not going to gift wrap that and give it to you! What the universe will do, is take you out and put you in situations that will signal you to act.And its finally your actions that will get you the stuff. So next time you have an intuition, don't think. Just act.

Ok! So by controlling you thoughts, you can control you future. But how on earth would you control your thoughts?! You get more than a 100,000 thoughts in a day! So heres an easy way. Your thoughts cumulatively form your feelings. Feelings are nothing but a cluster of similar thoughts. So if you can control your feelings, you can control your thoughts. Don't think about what you don't have. Just have that in the background because it provides a contrast to what you want. But in you present,be grateful for the things you already have. Feel good about. Its the 'attitude of gratitude'! Then visualize what you really wan't. having done that, live as if you already have it. Feel the way you'd feel when you get it. The vibes sent out by those feelings will act as a command for the universe to obey. And sooner or later, it will come true. There is no defined time frame for your thoughts to realise though. Energy always finds the shortest path to flow from point A to point B. So your dream may come true within hours of conceiving it, or it may take years. But howmuchever time it takes, believe that it was the quickest that could have happened. Whats important for you is to give the universe time, and it will give you what you want. Don't let your passion flame out till you get what you wanted. Trust in the force that created you.

Our body is a masterpiece in itself. You can heal it, just by your thoughts. Thats how the placebo works. You get well because you feel so. That doesn't mean that the world can get rid of all the doctors! But medicines are effective only after you start feeling that you are fine, and not the other way round! Miracles happening around the world are not the due of some godmen or offerings. It is due to the faith that those people have."I'll be perfectly fine as i've seen this godman!".Or, "I'll be perfectly fine because i've made this offering, or said my prayers!" Nobody heals you, but your self. All other things are just different means to instill that trust in you.

The quantum mechanics of our universe is ruled by uncertainties, probabilities, and infinite possibilities. And our thoughts, which are accompanied by radiance of energy from our bodies, acts as stimulants to the events in our lives. All of us don't wish for the same things in life. Believe that what you want is out there in abundance. If we start fearing about its scarcity, so shall it be. You are the Michealangelo of your life, and your life is your David. Whatever your life is today, is what you have created from the thoughts of your past. And if its not what you want, then now is the time to change it. Because you can only control you present thoughts. You cannot undo your past, but you can definitely shape your future. And you can do that if you start living what you want, here and now. You are not born with a destiny. You start creating it the moment you start breathing, with nothing but your thoughts.

"ALL POWER COMES FROM WITHIN AND IS THEREFORE UNDER OUR OWN CONTROL"

-ROBERT COLLINS

KNOW THYSELF

Born bare into a pair of hands,
Crawl around on knees and palm,
Limbs grow strong, and it finally stands,
Looks at the mirror and asks, ‘Is this who I am?’

Up you grow and hit the book,
Chase up numbers by hook or crook,
Your scores judge whether you are bright or a sham,
And you sit and wonder, ‘Is this who I am?’

You work your wits out to clear your files,
Your joy lies in moments when your boss smiles,
Mesmerized by the greenback’s charm,
You say you are fine, ‘But is this who I am?’

Now go back to the same old mirror,
You’ll realize that time has turned dearer,
The wrinkles will tell you what all you miss,
When you believe that money gives all the bliss.

That figure in the mirror stares back at you,
Look into its eyes and you’ll know what to do,
Listen to your heart’s wisdom and you’ll see,
The best things in life are actually free.

Numbers do not make or break you life,
Your joy is what should drive your strife,
The task you do should fill your heart,
With contentment of finishing a work of art.

In the melancholy of the world, don’t lose your spur,
Hold your ground before the battering ram,
And stand with pride before that glossy mirror,
In your final days and say, ‘I found out who I am!’

THE WALK ALONE

My journey began with those first steps,
The moment I took them, my fingers were left;
A zeal to prove myself has since then grown,
I have to make my own road, and so I walk alone.

I walked with those who I called my friends,
With time they dispersed to meet their ends;
In the rat race called life, they were all gone,
I chose to step aside, and so I walk alone.

I walked a path that was less taken,
Filled with pain, trials and tribulation;
Along that path I made the best pals I've known,
But with time they left, and so I walk alone.

I walked on the shore, left footprints on the sand,
For someone to follow me till where I stand;
But the waves washed away the path I'd shown,
Was shaken, but not stirred, and so I walk alone.

Every lone step has made me strong,
Driven me to give strength and love to all who long;
And transform every dream into a milestone,
They were with me all the while, and so I never had walked alone.
